Stony Knoll Community Library will get a facelift on Monday, Jan. 16. Volunteers with AmeriCorps will make repairs and do some landscaping tasks at the library, located off Fox Mountain Road near Mill Spring. Americorps is a U.S. federal government program through which volunteers handle jobs ranging from community improvements such as this project to public education and environmental clean-up. – article submitted by Evelyn Petty.

May 22-23 Stearns Park, Columbus.Come out and join us for the second year of fun for the family on Memorial Weekend. Rides, games, music, funnel cakes, hot dogs, BBQ hash and more. Live music in the evening. It's at Stearns Park in downtown Columbus beginning 3 pm Friday and all day Saturday. This event is a benefit to raise funds for the Stony Knoll Community Library. An indoor yard sale will be held Saturday, Sept. 22 from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Stony Knoll Community Center on Fox Mountain Road in Mill Spring. Hot dogs and drinks will be on sale in addition to yard sale items.

Stony Knoll Community Center will hold its first &;Festival and Fun Day& this evening and Saturday at Stearns Park in downtown Columbus.
Tonight from 6 until 10 p.m. rides and food will be available. Saturday, rides and food will be available from 10 a.m. to
10 p.m.
Entertainment is scheduled hourly, beginning at 1 p.m. with the Polk County High School Show Choir. At 2 p.m. Carey Upton and Woody Cowan and at 3 p.m., Dance Dynamics will perform. At 4 p.m., Various Singers are scheduled.
In addition, have your blood pressure checked, get information about local places of interest and buy something from the many vendors.
The Stony Knoll Community Center invites area residents to come out, bring the family, have a good time and support a good cause. Proceeds from the festival will go toward the renovation of the Stony Knoll Community Center and library.
